The Purpose of the Knoxville Mission Fund

The purpose of the fund is to honour the members of the former Knoxville Jubilee Bible Church by providing support in the form of grants for projects and activities with an evangelistic outreach and mission emphasis.

The Knoxville Mission Fund accepts unsolicited grant requests, for both new and existing programs, meeting the core objectives of the Fund.

It is the intent of the fund to award grants to ministries and activities that are visibly Christian and whose purpose is to influence people to lead a Christ-centred life, through evangelism or discipleship programs, or indirectly by providing for educational, physical and emotional needs within a Christ-centred context.

What Type of Activities Will Be Supported?

Our grants typically target ministries and activities in the areas of:

  • Both short-term and long-term local and overseas mission projects with a focus on evangelism and engagement of the community.
  • Training and equipping of pastors and workers of all levels.
  • Planting of ministries including churches in emerging nations.
  • Assisting the poor, marginalised and oppressed by serving both their physical and spiritual needs, whether they are imprisoned, enslaved, orphaned, homeless, handicapped, etc., in meeting their medical, food, water, shelter, microenterprise and educational needs.

When a proposal aligns with the aforementioned criteria, funding guidelines are then applied to further narrow down the pool of selected grant seekers.

For guidance, we do not support the following;

  • Church operating budgets or Church buildings.
  • Organisations expecting us to be long-term sustaining donors.
  • Expensive low-impact investments.
  • Secular or for-profit organisations.
  • Political causes or demonstration projects.

It is necessary for us to say ‘no’ to good projects and organisations from time to time, and focus the giving strategies on those that we are called to at that time.

Application Process

Applications will be received in the prescribed format at any time. The Committee meet twice a year for assessing funding distribution - 16th May and 7th November. All applications are to be received one week in advance of these dates for consideration.

  • It is expected that funding will be available within 30 days of approval.
  • There is no limit to the amount of times that someone can apply, but it would only be in unusual circumstances that funding will be provided to an individual or organisation on a repeated basis.
  • The funding limit per application is $5,000 and it is expected that the funding provided will be no more than 50% of the expenses of the particular project or activity.
  • Applicants who are given grants must report back to the Committee, and acquit the grant by providing full receipts and a sufficiently detailed report, within the time frame prescribed by the Committee.
  • All grants are made based on the discretion and judgement of the Committee only.
