hey hey back again for my second blog, I have a bit more confidence now, it was a lil nervous writing my debut blog.

Last week we had a roman/greek night which was an awesome night, loved how many ppl dressed up and yes ok lets put this in writing:

I Daniel Battersby apologise for the attire last week, even though it was amazingly comfortable!! Seriously girls are lucky, like you can get away with wearing skirts in public!

Im glad you can type blogs coz this week ive been a bit sick and my voice has just gone all strange and I sound like a boy goin through puberty crossed with a manly roadworker.

Soo this week I have been really challenged with sharing my faith more and communicatimg better to non Christians. I feel as if God is putting me in situations that will help me learn how to communicate my faith better, for example at work we are learning how to greeet and talk to customers effectively so that we can sell them things and as we were learning I could see many aspects that would help me with sharing my faith. Funnily enough one of the guys at work who is familiar with church said that this can help you evangelise with people and I kinda took that as conformatrion that God really wants me to improve in that area.

Well I better be off, PUMPED for tonight as iyouth hits BYG!!!!!!!

    Hey!

    Friday, May 28, 2010

Well seeing this is my first blog, I thought I should introduce myself to you.

So my name is Daniel Ryan Battersby, I am 18 years old and I currently work at Vodafone rundle mall as a casual and I am also undertaking a youth internship at Edwarstown Baptist church 2 days a week.

The purpose of this blog is to share some of my learnings and experiences throughout my internship. Even tho were halfway through the year there is still a billion more things to experience and learn about youth ministry.

The first half of this year has been a very sobering time, as my eyes have been woken up to all the behind the scene planning that goes into running a youth ministry. Through these months I have been challenged in many ways. One of the most powerful things I have learnt in youth ministry this year is that it is so important to live in a way that shows the love of Jesus and this will not only lead to your own spiritual growtrh but also to the young people around you.

Last week was probably one of my most stressful weeks in a long time, I had been given the opportunity to speak at young guns night. I was stressing coz I wanted to share the word of god in a way that would actually speak to young people and not just sound like some unconfident guy on stage reading the bible. In the midst of all my stress I had forgotten one thing and that was to remember that God was going to be that spoke into their hearts not me, I was just speaking the words, which gave me a whole new relaxed view. However, I was extremely nervous when it came to actually speaking, which I hadn’t experienced for a long time. Afterwards I really felt as if God was with me as spoke coz I some how managed to crack a few jokes that people actually laughed at (hopefully not out of sympathy) and I managed to share stuff that I hadn’t written down on my notes that just came to me as I was speaking and I felt as if I should mention experiences from my own life and my brother told me how he thought it was one of the stand out points from the talk which meant a lot.

Well thats my debut blog, have a great week, seeya tonightJ
